We all have watched movies, beautiful and young French ladies sitting down in a café relishing croissant and coffee then in supper life is not less ordinary than a big plate of steak frites. Well, everything in movies is not fictitious; French women eat as much as men, but how could possibly they remain slim. It is not some miracle that happens only with French women, but something we must know.

1. French women do not think about fitness too much

It is very American when women ritualistic go for cardio, online stores and companies making big money selling steppers and bikes. For French women, it is a part of their life, not a job to be done. In their everyday habits, they do things, which is very natural to them. Such as they squat instead of sit while peeing. Every time they pass through a doorway, they contract their abs. You may notice a French girl to do jumping jacks before breakfast. They love bicycles, they prefer walk over to talk to someone rather than sending an email. They burn more calories throughout the day instead a heavy workout in a particular time of the day.

2. French portions are less

Even they relish croissant and steak, French people, especially women don’t each much. If you compare the portions of French and the US, American women eat almost double portion in each meal. French women do not have forbidden foods, but they naturally believe in small servings. 

3. Low glycemic load

If you look at French diet, most of the foods have low glycemic load. It means foods have little impact on their blood glucose level. A Lower GL food generally contains high fiber and high water content, which is a reason of weight loss. A typical breakfast such as buckwheat pancake with strawberry jam or a fruit and yogurt have low GL. They eat lots of salad, grilled fish and scallion omelet.

4. French women do not take supplements

A magic pill is too good to be true. Same thing for supplement pills, which is unfortunately very rampant in the US. French women like to eat, but not to gulp tablets.  They prefer wholesome food rather than vitamin and mineral pills.

5. No office after office hours

In France, after office, you are really out of the office. Stress leads to unhealthy diet and unexpected weight gain. French women do not juggle professional and professional life. At stress, cortisone level is naturally increased, causing fat to store around the abdomen. 

6. At the end sound sleep

French women are not connected with distractions like iPod or phone or any electronic devices as a matter of fact while sleeping. They don’t have the habit to keep their phones on the night stand, and therefore not check their phones in the middle of the night. Disturb sleep pattern can cause lots of problem such as disturbance in BMI (basal metabolic index), increase in stress level, fatigue, disturbance in thought patterns etc.
