Frank Ocean Tour Cancels, Tears His Vocal Cords

The Grammy winner singer Frank Ocean has to force his Australian tour canceled because of a minor vocal cord injury. The singer in his first Australian tour with a sore throat forced him to cancel the whole Australian tour because of the injury after his one concert.

He played one concert and immediately had to seek medical advice due to vocal issue. His doctor revealed that he has actually torn a vocal cord. He’s has been advised to take a rest till a complete recovery.
His forthcoming schedules on August 3 and 4 are also uncertain and according to his media consultant it is now highly unlikely he is going to perform in near future. The severity of the problem is still unclear but even the minor vocal cord injury requires several weeks of rest.


The Afro-American artist has won several accolades in the past for his versatile music and lyrics. He was once did lots of ghostwriting for various artists such as Justin Beiber, John Legend, Brandy and later on came in the music arena as Frank Ocean. He has received 26 award nominations and won two Grammys, A Soul Train and UK Music Award.

What are Vocal Chord disorders?


Vocal cords are two bands of elastic muscle tissue situated in the voice box (larynx) and just above the trachea. This cord can be strained like other muscle tissue and could be infected.
Laryngitis or vocal cords injury can be caused by vocal abuse, allergies, viral infection, stomach acids, too much cigarette smoke and alcohol.
