Tips For Men
• Change your shaving method if it gives you a skin rash. Consult your doctor if the rash persists.
• For a wet shave, use a really clean and sharp blade, work with, not against, the grain of the hair, and shave the chin and upper lip first.
• Electric shaving works best when the hairs are stiff and dry.
• Wash regularly with soap and water, and trim. Shape to suit your face. A drooping mustache disguises chubby cheeks or a square jaw. A beard may overemphasize a narrow forehead or hollow cheeks.
• There is no known prevention or natural cure for baldness. A drug, minoxidil, sometimes helps to halt its progress.
• Hair transplants are rarely satisfactory, since they depend on the continuing growth of transplanted hair follicles and might be of hair already destined to be permanently lost.
Tips For Women
• Shaving becomes quick and easy for women. Shave legs, underarms, bikini line, but never hairs on breasts because it can damage the hair ducts and lead to infection. Shaving does not make the hairs grow back thicker or darker.
• Chemicals dissolve hair, leaving a smoother, more lasting result. Test on a small area of the skin before first use of any product, in case you are allergic.
• Although painful, waxing lasts longer and leaves the skin soft and smooth. Best done by professional, but home kits are effective.
• Plucking is the most effective on chin and eyebrows. Never pluck hairs from a mole; it can stimulate malignancy in certain types of moles.
• Bleaching is the best for disguising facial hair. Always test on a patch of skin before use and rinse-off thoroughly.
• Permanent hair removal through electrolysis causes a chemical reaction, and shortwave diathermy uses heat. Both must be performed by a trained operator; avoid home kits.
